Hi, welcome to my website. My name is Claire Dempsey and I’m a first-year public health student at Agnes Scott College. On my website, you will find material from my Cross-Cultural Mediterranean course, where we engaged in material covering the exchange of the Mediterranean in the past as well as in modern times, complete with a week-long travel to Marseille, France, in the middle of the course. Through the Journeys experience, I was able to learn about the Mediterranean through encounters with local nonprofit organizations, talks with prominent women in the Marseille community, and enriching tours around the city. Being able to connect what I saw firsthand in Marseille with the readings we had done in class allowed me to experience the city in a way that ran deeper than the beauty of the sea and the heartfelt encounters with local Marseillais.
